The Sun Valley Youth Hockey Board of Directors maintains a clear set of expectations regarding the behavior of spectators at all SVYH events, as follows. Spectators must:
- Display good sportsmanship. Always show respect for all players, coaches and officials.
- Act appropriately. Do not taunt or disturb other fans. Make it a goal to enjoy games together with fans of both teams. If you do this, everyone leaves a game with a better feeling. Remember – GAMES ARE PLAYED FOR THE KIDS ON THE ICE, NOT FOR THE ADULTS AND OTHER SPECTATORS.
- Cheer good plays of all participants. Do not boo opponents.
- Cheer in a positive manner and encourage fair play. Profanity and objectionable cheers or gestures are offensive. Sun Valley Junior Hockey will not tolerate such offensive action.
- Help provide a safe and fun environment. Do not throw items on the ice surface as foreign objects can cause injury to players and officials.
- Not lean over or pound on the boards or glass. The boards and glass surrounding the ice surface are part of the playing area.
- Support the officials and coaches by trusting their judgment and integrity. Do not taunt or boo officials or coaches.
- Be responsible for your own safety. Be alert to prevent accidents from flying pucks and other avoidable situations.
- Respect the locker rooms as private areas for players, coaches and officials.
- Win or lose, be supportive. Recognize and applaud good effort, teamwork and sportsmanship – by all players on both teams.
